Cyclists rolling into the Tour de Cure charity ride on Sunday, Aug. 16 will find a beer garden waiting at the finish, after the Lexington Select Board approved a one-day liquor license for Craft Food Halls to serve at the event.

The board granted the license as part of its Monday, Aug. 3 consent agenda, allowing Craft Food Halls to pour beer and wine at 29 Hartwell Ave., the address of The Core at Lexington, where the ride is headquartered.

The Tour de Cure: New England is an annual charity bicycle ride benefiting the American Diabetes Association. According to the event's official page, check-in begins at 6 a.m. at The Core at Lexington, with routes ranging from 5 to 100 miles. It's not Craft Food Halls' first pour this summer.

The company, which operates Revolution Hall at 3 Maguire Road near the Minuteman Bikeway, has become a regular presence at Lexington community events in 2026. The Select Board previously approved one-day licenses for Craft Food Halls to run a beer garden at Discovery Day on May 23 and a FIFA World Cup Watch Party beer garden at the Visitor Center Lawn from June 16 through June 27.

Other board business

The same consent agenda approved a one-day liquor license for the Eastern Massachusetts Association of Community Theatres (EMACT) to serve at its annual DASH Gala and Awards Presentation at Cary Memorial Hall, 1605 Massachusetts Ave., on Sunday, Aug. 23. The gala recognizes community theatre productions across Eastern Massachusetts.

The board also authorized execution of a Builders Risk Insurance contract for the $660 million Lexington High School building project, which voters approved in December 2025. As we reported Aug. 5, the project has drawn community input on sustainability features.

The next Select Board meeting is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 17 at 6:30 p.m. via hybrid participation.
