LexSEPTA, Lexington's Special Education Parent Teacher Association, is recruiting walkers and runners for the 2026 GenesisHR Battlegreen Run on Nov. 1 at Lexington High School.

The nonprofit is fielding a team at the annual community fundraiser for the third straight year. Money raised will go toward two priorities: bringing in speakers to help families navigate special education and funding LexSEPTA's resource fair, which connects families of children with disabilities to service providers. The group held a resource fair in April at the Lexington Community Center. The prior year's fair drew more than 40 vendors covering education, therapy, recreation and transition planning, according to a Lexington High School PTO newsletter.

Races and walks begin at 12:15 p.m. at 251 Waltham St. Participants can choose a 2K walk (about 1.2 miles), a 5K walk or run, or an "Almost-10K" run. A Kids Fun Run starts at 11:15 a.m. on the indoor track. Registration costs $49 and includes lunch after the race. A virtual option is available for those who cannot attend in person, according to the Soccer Unity Project's event page.

LexSEPTA is one of several nonprofit teams participating in the Battlegreen Run. According to the group's event page, friends, neighbors, educators and extended family are welcome to join the team. No connection to special education is required.

To sign up for Team LexSEPTA, runners and walkers register through RunSignUp and select LexSEPTA as their team. Those who prefer to donate without running can contribute through LexSEPTA's website.
