Lexington police arrested three people on forgery charges at the Eastern Bank branch on Massachusetts Avenue on Thursday, Aug. 20.

Officers Christopher W. Ducharme and John C. Frissore responded to 1690 Massachusetts Ave. at 2:12 p.m. and took three individuals into custody, according to the department's public arrest log.

Yara Silva Ventura, 21, of Fall River, was charged with one count of forgery under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 267, Section 1, and one count of uttering a forged instrument under Section 5. Denzel Massaquoi, 22, also of Fall River, was charged with one count of uttering a forged instrument. Silvio Mendes, 24, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, was charged with forgery and uttering a forged instrument.

Forgery involves creating a false document. Uttering means knowingly presenting a forged document as genuine. Both are felonies under Massachusetts law, carrying a maximum of 10 years in state prison or two years in a house of correction.

The arrest log does not describe what type of documents were allegedly forged. The address is the site of an Eastern Bank branch, according to the bank's website.

None of the three is a Lexington resident. Silva Ventura and Massaquoi listed Fall River addresses, and Mendes listed a Pawtucket, Rhode Island, address.

The log credits Officer Ducharme with two of the three arrests and Officer Frissore with one. It does not specify which officer arrested which individual.

No arraignment date or court information appeared in the arrest log. The Lexington Police Department has not issued a separate statement about the incident.
