Concord seniors can build their own sundaes for free Thursday afternoon at the Council on Aging, courtesy of the Concord Friends of the Aging, the volunteer-run nonprofit that funds senior programming in town.

The make-your-own sundae social starts at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at the COA, 1276 Main St., according to the town's event calendar. Admission is free. Van rides are available for seniors who need a lift to the building.

Residents must call the COA office at (978) 318-3020 to reserve a spot.

The Friends of the Aging, incorporated in 1981, is funded through membership dues, donations and bequests and managed by a volunteer board of directors. The group serves Concord residents age 60 and over with programs spanning education, health, entertainment and social connection.

The ice cream social is the latest in a busy summer at the COA, which has organized outings, wellness presentations and guided nature walks throughout July and into August. Residents looking for more activities can browse the full COA calendar at concordma.gov.
