National Grid crews started overnight utility work at the intersection of Main Street and Cottage Street in Concord on Monday, Oct. 26, with the project scheduled to run through Friday, Oct. 30.

Contractor Neuco Inc. is handling backfilling, paving and demolition of an existing underground vault for National Grid, according to a road work advisory posted by the town. All work takes place during night hours, from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.

The streets will remain open to traffic, but drivers should expect delays. Heavy equipment will be operating in the intersection. Police officers or flaggers will be on site to direct vehicles through the work zone.

Residents and business owners along the affected stretch may face short waits getting in and out of driveways while equipment is working directly in front of their properties. The town's advisory says to speak with the police detail officer or flagger for access during construction.

The town is asking drivers not to park within the roadway work limits while crews are active. Drivers should follow posted signs and the traffic management plan in effect at the site.

The schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.

Residents with questions about the project can contact Sarah Troy at National Grid at (781) 670-4209 or Kris Pazzanese at Neuco Inc. at (978) 804-7399.
