Five Concord-Carlisle players found the net Saturday, Oct. 24, as the Patriots routed Dual County League rival Lincoln-Sudbury 5-0 in the annual Kicks for Cancer match at Doug White Turf.
Caroline Ferrari broke the ice, slipping a shot into the right corner after an aggressive press early in the first half. Co-captain Emmy O'Donnell followed with the second goal. Ella Rowan, Audrey Adkins and Paige Taunton-Rigby also scored as the Patriots piled on four first-half goals in front of a student section decked in pink, as the Concord Bridge reported.
The win improved Concord-Carlisle to 13-2 overall and 6-0 in DCL play. It was the Patriots' third straight game with at least five goals, following a 5-0 win over Wayland and a 5-1 victory against Acton-Boxborough.
The game carried weight beyond the scoreboard. Players wore the names of friends or family members who have battled cancer on their jerseys. At halftime, O'Donnell showed the crowd that her jersey honored classmate Emma Robertson, who has been diagnosed with cerebellar medulloblastoma, a brain cancer.
Midfielder Camy Cox did not score but controlled the middle of the field, winning possession and setting up teammates throughout the match.
O'Donnell, the reigning Gatorade Massachusetts Player of the Year, has committed to play at Duke. Teammate Ainsley Siefer, who drove toward the Lincoln-Sudbury net repeatedly in the first half, has committed to Middlebury.
The Patriots kept rolling Monday, Oct. 26, beating Weston 7-2 to push their record to 14-2 and extend their winning streak to six games, according to MaxPreps. Concord-Carlisle sits first in the Dual County League's large division at 6-0.
The Patriots host Westford Academy on Friday, Oct. 30, then travel to Franklin on Monday, Nov. 2.
