Emmy O'Donnell scored three goals Wednesday, Sept. 30, as Concord-Carlisle girls soccer shut out Hopkinton 5-0 to improve to 7-0.

The Patriots, ranked No. 1 in the MIAA's first Division 1 power rankings released Tuesday, Sept. 29, showed why against a Hopkinton squad that entered the game ranked No. 8 in the same poll. O'Donnell, the reigning Gatorade Massachusetts Player of the Year and a Duke commit, put three past the Hillers to record her second multi-goal game in as many weeks. She scored twice in a 4-0 win over Wellesley on Sept. 19, including a free kick from well outside the box.

O'Donnell is the first soccer player in Concord-Carlisle history to win the Gatorade state award.

O'Donnell had plenty of help. Ainsley Siefer, a Middlebury commit, added a goal and an assist. Caroline Ferrari scored, and Kendall Johnson picked up an assist. Athletic director Aaron Joncas posted the final on X, listing each scorer.

The shutout was the Patriots' sixth in seven games. Through seven games, the defense has allowed just one goal while the attack has piled up 22, according to MaxPreps. Goalkeeper Aubrey Monaghan has anchored the back line, recording a diving save on a header in the Wellesley win. Concord-Carlisle sits first in the Dual County League's Large division at 3-0.

The 5-0 result also caught the attention of the Boston Globe, which moved the Patriots up to No. 2 in its Top 20 girls soccer poll published Thursday, Oct. 1. The Globe's media poll is separate from the MIAA's algorithmic power rankings, where CC holds the top spot.

Both the boys and girls soccer programs at Concord-Carlisle hold the No. 1 seed in MIAA Division 1, with a combined record of 11-0-1 as of the Tuesday, Sept. 29, rankings, as MassLive reported. Both teams reached the state semifinals last season.

Concord-Carlisle hosts Winchester on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 3 p.m., then travels to Lexington on Saturday, Oct. 17.
