Lexington's Board of Appeals will elect a new chair, vice chair and clerk at its Thursday, Oct. 22, meeting. The board will also hear two zoning cases.

The leadership reorganization tops the board's "other business" agenda and takes effect immediately, according to the meeting agenda posted by the town. Ralph D. Clifford is listed as the current chair. Nyles N. Barnert, Norman P. Cohen, James A. Osten and associate member Jeanne K. Krieger round out the board, with Thomas Shiple serving as an alternate.

At the board's Oct. 8 meeting, Barnert served as acting chair, according to that session's agenda. The Oct. 22 agenda does not indicate whether Clifford is stepping down or why the board is reorganizing.

The board will also hear two continued cases.

213 East Street: side-yard setback variance

Applicant Mallikarjun Sundaram Srivatsan is seeking a variance under Lexington's zoning bylaw to allow a side-yard setback smaller than the code requires at 213 East St. The case, filed as Record ZBA-26-16, first came before the board Oct. 8 and was continued to the Oct. 22 session. A legal notice published in late September advertised the public hearing.

25 Maple Street: 2,200 cubic yards of earth fill

Grand Central Suites LLC, represented by James Patnaude, wants a permit under Lexington's earth-fill-and-removal code to bring 2,200 cubic yards of fill to 25 Maple St. The property sits in the RO one-family dwelling zoning district.

This case has been continued twice. It first appeared on the Aug. 27 agenda, was continued to Sept. 24 with a continuance request, and has now been pushed to Oct. 22 with another continuance request.

The property is also the subject of a separate subdivision proposal. The Lexington Planning Board approved a preliminary subdivision plan for 25 Maple St. on Aug. 5, allowing the lot to be split into two parcels with a turnaround.

The board will also review its 2027 meeting calendar and approve minutes from the Oct. 8 session.

The Oct. 22 meeting begins at 7 p.m. and will be held remotely via Zoom. LexMedia will broadcast the session. Residents can look up case documents through the town's ViewPoint Cloud permitting system.
