Lexington Town Meeting members will gather Monday, Nov. 9, at 7:30 p.m. to take up six warrant articles covering budget adjustments, stabilization funds and capital spending.
The hybrid session will open at Margery Milne Battin Hall in Cary Memorial Building, 1605 Massachusetts Ave. Residents can also follow proceedings through LexMedia's YouTube channel or participate remotely by contacting the Town Clerk's Office.
The STM 2026-1 warrant, signed Oct. 5, lays out the agenda Town Meeting members will debate. Select Board Chair Joseph N. Pato and the four other board members issued the warrant.
What's on the warrant
Article 1 is a standing item for reports from town boards and committees. Article 2 asks members to appropriate money for prior years' unpaid bills. Article 3 covers stabilization funds, including accounts for zoning, traffic mitigation, special education, capital needs and the ambulance fund, among others. Appropriations from those funds require a two-thirds vote.
Article 4 would amend the current fiscal year 2027 operating, enterprise and Community Preservation Act budgets. Article 5 seeks supplementary money for authorized capital improvements such as water mains, sewers, streets and buildings. Article 6 would adjust departmental revolving fund spending limits set at the 2026 Annual Town Meeting.
Dollar amounts for Articles 2 through 6 were listed as unknown at the time the warrant was printed.
Committee prep work
The Appropriation Committee held a remote meeting Oct. 28 with "Review and Approve Report for STM 2026-1" on its posted agenda. The agenda stated no public comments would be taken. The committee's working documents are published on the town website.
The panel has additional meetings scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 4, if needed, and Thursday, Nov. 12, during the Town Meeting session. Meetings start at 7:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Residents can reach the committee at [email protected].
How to participate
Town Meeting members can attend in person or join via Zoom using tools developed by Select Board member Joe Pato, including an online voting platform and a queuing function for debate. Moderator Deborah Brown requested the hybrid format in a Sept. 28 letter to the Select Board.
Residents who are not Town Meeting members can watch from designated seating in Battin Hall or stream the session on LexMedia. Those who wish to speak may complete an online form on the town's Special Town Meeting page.
The Appropriation Committee's next scheduled session falls on Nov. 12, during Town Meeting.
