Lexington families seeking counseling, crisis support or help finding a therapist can turn to a three-page guide posted by LexSEPTA/SEPAC.
The Mental Health & Family Support guide, reviewed Oct. 17, brings together local counseling services, statewide support organizations and crisis contacts.
LexSEPTA, the Lexington Special Education PTA, supports the work of LexSEPAC, the town’s Special Education Parent Advisory Council. Their shared guide includes eligibility rules, phone numbers and links to providers.
The guide highlights Lexington’s replacement for the William James INTERFACE referral service, which ended Oct. 14, 2025. Residents seeking outpatient care can now complete an online form through the town’s Mental Health Referral Program. Human Services social workers follow up within three to five business days to help connect them with resources and providers.
Human Services is at 39 Marrett Road. Residents can call 781-698-4843 during business hours. The referral program is not a crisis service.
For young people, the guide lists Youth Counseling Connection, an independent nonprofit at 7 Harrington Road. YCC offers up to 12 free individual or family therapy sessions per school year, with no insurance required.
Eligible youth must be ages 11 to 22 and live or attend school in Lexington, or have a parent working in town. Appointments are available Monday through Thursday. Wednesday walk-in therapy runs from 3 to 4:30 p.m.; families should confirm availability before visiting.
The guide also identifies around-the-clock support:
- 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Call 988 or text 988 for suicidal crisis or emotional distress.
- Massachusetts Behavioral Health Help Line: Call or text 833-773-2445 for free, confidential support and connections to care. No insurance is needed to contact the line, and interpretation is available in more than 200 languages.
- Advocates Mobile Crisis Intervention: Call 800-540-5806. Lexington is in the program’s East Area, where clinicians can respond in homes, schools and community settings.
For immediate danger or a life-threatening emergency, call 911.
Non-crisis resources include the NAMI Massachusetts Compass Helpline at 617-704-6264 and the Parent/Professional Advocacy League at 866-815-8122. Families can also contact their child’s school counselor or call Lexington Public Schools at 781-861-2580.
The full guide is available on the LexSEPTA/SEPAC resource page. Families should confirm current eligibility, availability and costs directly with providers.
