Lexington's annual Pumpkin Smash returns Friday, Nov. 6, at Lincoln Park, giving residents a chance to hurl their post-Halloween pumpkins and have the remains composted.

The event runs from 1 to 3 p.m. at Lincoln Park, 100 Lincoln St. Black Earth Compost will collect the smashed pumpkins and turn them into a soil amendment, according to the town's event listing.

Pumpkins of any size are welcome. The town asks that residents remove all candles, paint and other decorations before bringing them.

The 2026 event will also include a target for residents to throw their pumpkins at. The town says composting pumpkins helps reduce waste sent to the landfill.

The Pumpkin Smash is sponsored by the Town of Lexington, the LPS Green Teams and the Lexington Zero Waste Collaborative.
